Scripture Signing Photo

On Sunday, May 9th we went into the new classroom building and the Gardenside Room to write our favorite scriptures on the walls, prior to them being covered by insulation, sheetrock and the finished exterior. Individuals, families and Promiseland classes came out to contribute to the shared vision that these buildings are dedicated to ministry and to impacting lives.

The following Sunday, May 16th, we are invited to write our favorite scriptures  the Teen Center and the admin building.

This week the roof will be completed. The wiring electrical and plumbing is almost done. The tie-in to the sewer is being done this week also.

Closing in – plumbing and electrical starting

February 14, 2008 · 1 Comment

Restroom - wallsThe final building to be completed is the restroom and storage building next to Stenman. The concrete was poured last week and now the walls are being set in place.

The mezzanine in the admin building is built up and the building is closed in. The framers are finishing details on the roof.Teen - corner

MezzanineIn one corner of the Teen Center, we have a 20 foot ceiling where we will have the projection screen and the stage. This corner is being built today.

Along the front of the classrooms, we will have a covered walkway supported by columns that will echo the columns in the existing building. They were poured and the covered Columnswalkway will be built up soon.

Once the insides of the buildings have had a chance to dry, the plumbers and Plumbingelectricians are able to come in and do their work. They have started already, mostly in the classroom building and in the restrooms next to the teen center.

Looking at the buildings now, you can really get a sense of how they will function when we move in and begin using them for ministry.

Beams getting installed

February 1, 2008 · Leave a Comment

The final glue lam is being installed in the Admin building. This will allow the framers to add all the rafters and close that building to the weather.

Beams ready to installThe large beams in the foreground require a crane to install, which is scheduled to happen on Tuesday, Feb. 5th. Our structural engineer has been onsite to make sure all the steel supports have are lined up correctly and ready to support the beams.

Next week looks like we’ll have 5 days of good building weather and will see a lot get done. The final concrete pour (for the building restroom building) will happen early in the week. All of the flat walls have already been built for it and once they are installed, the framers will build the curved wall that marks that entrance to the courtyard.

Getting closed in

February 1, 2008 · Leave a Comment

You can see the big puddles of water that are on site. Classrooms closed inThe rain has slowed down the pouring of concrete, but we have still had some very productive days to get framing done. The Gardenside Room is closed in and the Classroom building is almost closed in. Once these rooms are covered, it takes a few days for the interior wood to dry out and then work can continue inside no matter what the weather is like outside.

Steel SupportsThe steel supports are being installed now. Steel anchors were placed into the foundation when the concrete was poured. Now they are being bolted and welded to the foundation. Each will be inspected, including X-rays taken of the welds to make sure they are going to be strong and hold up the bulk of the weight of the roof.

We’ve got a very big pad! The pad has been pExpansion joints cut into padoured for the Teen center and admin building and today the concrete subcontractor removed the forms around the pad. This morning, they cut expansion joints into the concrete so that when it gets warmer on hot days, when the concrete expands it will fill in the space instead of crack.
